There is still no official news. I wish we had some public acknowledgement that our voices are being heard as you all do as well. I have to assume that the social media people of all the entities we are tagging have noticed and perhaps passed on our message. Word seems to be reaching more fans as new names show up weekly. Farscape fans are showing their creativity and those of us without any are retweeting them like mad! Special thanks to Sprite Lady,Paul and Pai for some great memes! Unsure how to Tweet ? Create and account and search #farscapenow and just retweet. Easypeasy! Or go to any genre websites you read and email that you want a Farscape feature or think the show deserves a revival.
Don’t want a revival? Go to Netflix and suggest they bring the show back for streaming. Give new fans a chance to discover the wonders.
I understand that many also do not want to get their hopes up. I have to hope that if we are given any public sign y’all might get involved 🙂
The Dark Matter folks are doing a surge on Friday nights and many will be tagging us as well. We will be focusing our surge on Sunday nights at 7 ET/& London time. Continue to tweet/hashtag when you can as real life happens 🙂 Tag #DarkMatter when you can. They managed to trend last Friday night though they are in a different position than we are as it is far cheaper to pick up a show that is finishing production, still airing with sets intact. BUT making the voice of genre viewers heard helps us all. Again Twitter gets the notice— new users can tweet some of the awesome memes found on the various Farscape groups or by googling just add the hashtag #farscapenow or simply search Farscape or #farscapenow and retweet!
15 years ago a fellow Scaper and I got this ad published in The Hollywood Reporter:
Fifteen years and one week ago Farscape fans gathered in a chat room run by the SciFi Channel and rallied to save our show. We formed groups around the world that used various means to show our dedication. We got a miniseries to close out a chapter of the story. Most of us felt like series creator , Rockne O’Bannon, that there were many more stories to tell. Â The actors, producers and crew were very vocal in their support. They were fighting for their jobs and a job they were proud of. Today they are in a different position with regards to speaking out. Even we non-industry people know it is a fickle business that is likely to pick up a show for revival and turn it in to something unrecognizable! I know many of you want to hear from those at the top publicly. Hopefully that day will come.
Last night we saw another cancelled SYFY show follow our lead at the behest of their producer and trend on Twitter with 100,000 tweets. Yes the actors also got involved. Remember they are still under contract and fighting for a job in a profession where only 5% or so are working at any time! So please do not compare them to our actors as caring more. Farscape has accrued more fans as the years have gone by.Many never use social media or think to search it. If we want more Farscape we have to earn it. The world of television has changed over the years and there are more shows than ever and so many more outlets! This is good and bad. Netflix is losing the Marvel and Star Wars franchises. I am guessing this frees up money for other projects. Game of Thrones has only a few episodes left to produce so HBO will be looking for another drama that attracts people who want something complex and unique. STARZ fans also like different as the success of Outlander. Amazon Studios is another possible source. We may know soon if the SYFY show gets new breath from one of these. It is cheaper for a studio to invest while all the sets intact and everyone still under contract. Farscape is in a much different situation though I suspect investors that are approached will check the show’s social media footprint as it is real time eavesdropping on viewers trends. Facebook is not usually monitored closely like Twitter and Instagram.
I understand those who are discouraged and I will remind you of the Star Trek fans who prior to the internet worked tirelessly and many thought foolishly for more Trek from June 1969 until December 1979. I don’t plan to give up just yet and hope you don’t either!

Farscape Convention 2000 (l-r) Wayne Pygram, Virginia Hey, David Kemper, Gigi Edgley, Claudia Black, Lani Tapu, Kent McCord, Anthony Simcoe, Ricky Manning, Ben Browder, ?, Rockne O’Bannon, Brian Henson
Just going to recap from the beginning. In Birmingham this past June Ben called for us to fight for more Farscape as there are more stories to tell. I heard from another source as well that the creative side of production is very interested in telling more stories. Henson is more on board so we need to show investors and distributors that there is an audience worth their time and money. Today social media reflects the pulse of what viewers want. Not sure I agree but no one is asking me! If you don’t do social media you can comment on posts here and use the hashtag #farscapenow . We are now on Instagram  farscapenow  Twitter @farscapenow  . I do post in the Farscape Reddit occasionally so if you are active on Reddit please post there!
I have decided that no ad will be pursued at this time. Having heard from a reliable source Brian Henson is willing but investors needed. A show like Farscape takes millions for even a limited series which is what we would all like to see. Once the initial sets in place it is less expensive (relatively speaking!). This phase will require you to get word to writers that you want stories on Farscape — maybe on how it can be the next revival, that it first aired during a  year of disputed election , the time is right for this cult show to re-emerge— whatever YOU would like to read. Many sites like Collider , Deadline (favored by young Hollywood movers and shakers), IGN and many others. Find the TV people on your favorite site if you don’t already follow them on social media and email or Tweet them or Snapchat or Instagram or your choice! It is hard work! Search #Farscape or #farscapenow and retweet or reblog — make it part of your daily routine! We need to show investors we are here and interested. If we attract the attention of the streaming companies or even the SYFY channel (new leaders and seem to be interested in scifi again!) they can help find the money and work with Henson.
Ok Scapers a plan is being formulated to attract Brian Henson’s attention. Sadly as we all know money talks. I spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about an ad in their digital edition. The industry uses this daily to keep track of what is going on. Pricey as expected $15,000 for 7 days. Scaper artist SpriteLady of Ben Browder Network is working on ideas for t-shirt logo ( maybe other products). The cost would be either $20 or $25 with $10-$15 going to the ad cost. So 1000 to 1500 would need to be sold. This tactic was used in the Save Farscape campaign and the producers were impressed at fans putting their money where their mouths are so to speak. The print ad below cost $3,200 in 2002. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. In the event we go forward and do not meet the goal the funds will be donated to charity. Possibly just donations can be made as well. Still hashing it out! In the meantime keep tweeting, posting on Henson;s Facebook page or tumblr! This week and next bloggers and writers will be tied up with San Diego Comic Con so retweet and mention Farscape 😉 Don’t forget the #farscapenow !
This is a grassroots movement. I have consulted with two friends, both  have worked in studio/television marketing for many years. One for a major studio ,the other smaller more independent studios. One a Scaper and one known from another fandom. Their advice the same. Twitter is important. The writers/bloggers who cover TV and pop culture that ignite revivals and interest, or reflect people’s interest are there. We need to get their attention. Let them know people still are interested in Farscape. This next two weeks will be difficult as it is San Diego Comic Con and that will be the focus of their coverage. But also a great Twitter opportunity. Sign up if don’t have an account—-use your spam email account or create a new one and maybe your old screen name from back in the day or something new. Follow some of the people that @farscapenow follows to start. Tweet once or twice a week to start while you have your coffee or whatever starts your day. Search Farscape and retweet with the hashtag #farscapenow. Easy! Tweet a favorite Farscape picture. Tweet at the journalist/bloggers in reply to their tweets saying yea that is great but maybe bring back Farscape instead of more Full House 😉 Tweet especially to @hensonstudios that it is time for more #farscapenow ! It is free to join this movement , free to tweet just costs a few minutes of your week! Feel free to use your creativity. Using a unified hashtag suggests a movement so I would encourage that be #farscapenow .
Remember to send those postcards so Henson Company returns after the holiday to a full mail room!
Scaper Nora had a great idea to make the fan base more than names and handles. Make a short video or photo post telling briefly how you came to find Farscape and post it to the Henson Company Facebook page or Tweet it to them @HensonCompany or on Instagram ! Take a few minutes and don’t forget to add the #farscapenow
